SEND Solutions SW works with parent carers and schools across Somerset and the South West of England.

Finding solutions is at the heart of what we do.
Our assessments for schools and parent carers to unpick learners' needs are conducted by fully qualified SpLD specialist assessors who hold an Assessor's Practising Certificate and have professional membership of the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) and/or Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS).
Our consultancy and training is built on over 30 years of teaching experience, working with children and young people assessing their needs and planning outcomes, holding leadership roles such as a SENCo in schools, and wide and varied experience working in local authority advisory services.

Helen's story
Helen Berryman is an experienced education consultant specialising in SEND. Her 30 year career in teaching has included being a class teacher in England and abroad, SENCo, teaching and learning consultant, specialist assessor for SpLD dyslexia and lead specialist advisory teacher for a local authority learning support service. Helen is passionate about inclusion and launched SEND Solutions South West in 2025 offering expert services to schools and parent carers.

Helen is qualified to Master's level, holding a Post Graduate Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties - Dyslexia and is registered as an assessor with the British Dyslexia Association and the SpLD Assessments Standards Committee.

Her 10 year experience as a lead advisory teacher for a local authority has included leading on training programmes for schools and strategic tools for school leaders to evaluate the quality and impact inclusive practices on pupils with SEND.
